Two FAA approved ground schools are available: the traditional classroom school that meets twice weekly and the new Piilot Center (CPC) computer based, interactive ground school.
Most people are busy with multiple committments. For that reason, customer interest in the traditional ground school has become almost non-existent. Welcome to the new CPC ground school. You complete the 23 hour course using DVD discs on your computer at home or in your office and spend approximately 12 hours with your flight instructor ensuring that you have mastered the required knowledge. In late 2009, this program will become interactive on the internet. You will then be able to access it from any computer at any location at any time. The CPC DVDs will be history, and you are assured of learning the most up to date material.
Interactive training has been used for years by airlines and the military. You read text, study illustrations, and answer questions. If a mistake is made, the appropriate text or illustration reappears for you to review. Later, you will be ask a similar question to ensure that you've mastered that subject.
Cessna Aircraft owns the CPC programs, but it was developed and is managed by King Schools, well known for their excellent training programs. This is the future of training. It's easy to miss something in a traditional ground school lecture, but with interactive training you can review whenever necessary and go at your own pace whenever you are ready to learn.
